The Wellcome Trust was established in 1936 as an independent charity funding research to improve human and animal health. With an endowment of around £14.5 billion, it is the United Kingdom's largest non-governmental source of funds for biomedical research. The overall mission of the trust is "to foster and promote research with the aim of improving human and animal health", and in addition to funding biomedical research it supports the public understanding of science.

The Wellcome Trust believes that maximising the distribution of these papers - by providing free, online access - is the most effective way of ensuring that the research can be accessed, read and built upon. The basic idea at the beginning of the developement of my device was to be able to make the site analysis, our next step in the bachelor year, with my device.
The last weeks I was working on finishing my device and make it work properly - not yet finished ;) - but thinking about all the problems caused by my machine and an critical input by Andi Hörl let me make serious thoughts about the input for my site analysis.
At the last crit in London I was talking about sensors and tracking movements, but the problem is that for such an analysis of a site you have to be right there. As our sites should be located in London its simply not possible to be there any time you want to go! This led me to a different kind of site analysis!
As source, or starting point for the analysing process I decided to take digital photos of my choosen site(s). The question arose how to interpret the 2D data to get an output for my 3D painting device. My idea was to use the colour information which can be found in any digital (as well as analogue) picture. Things like dominant colour values, detailed information about any colour used in the image, .... came into my mind.
I was looking for a suitable software to get the information I wanted out of the pictures. The problem is that there is no software, as far as I know, that does the stuff I want it to do (writing my own software was not a way out, because I´m too bad in this ... :D).
I came back to a software I already discovered 2 years ago, I guess. RGB Music Lab by Kenji Kojima ....
